Hein Braat, mantras that open doors
When chanting mantras, you try to form a whole with all the sounds, as if you were creating a kind of unifying sound that unites everything within yourself. This makes it feel like an art that unites body and soul, the mundane and the timeless. Hein Braat described a mantra as a way to open a door with focused sound—a door to a higher consciousness. That might sound like you're simply singing yourself into the heavens, but like any art form, there's technique, practice, and craftsmanship behind it.

Biography of Hein Braat
From a young age, music has been a defining factor in Hein Braat's life. What began as a hobby eventually became his profession. Around the age of forty, his friend and therapist, Hans van Druten, recommended yoga. Through some detours, he found Gerard van Wijk, who had just returned from a long stint as a monk in India.
Over the years, Hein practiced various forms of yoga, such as Hatha, Purna, and Kriya. Ultimately, he realized that everything revolving around the search for Light, Love, and Unity is simply "yoga." He also pursued his own path in singing: for him, words were primarily vehicles, driven by tone, feeling, and focused attention.
